I get asked a lot by many of my students, what should I wear to do yoga, being a guy? For me, everything comes down to two main points: freedom of movement; and feel to the touch. What do I mean by that?
Let's start with freedom of movement. When we're practicing we're bending forward, bending back, twisting, opening, so many patterns of movement. We need to use clothes that are enhancing our movement instead of reducing our movement. So let's say our clothes are too tight, we're restricting our range of motion, we're not able to practice in our full potential. At the same time if the clothes are too loose - let's say we're doing a downward facing dog and our t-shirt is going all the time towards our face, towards our head - every two seconds we have to bring that t-shirt back into place. Maybe we even tuck the t-shirt into our pants, but it's already distracted us from the practice.

So let's find a balance. Clothes that are not too tight, not too loose. For me the best I can think of it's something that is elastic. A T-shirt should ideally be tight, but not super tight so that it's restricting. If it's quite elastic, it’s going to hold in place and I'm going to be able to practice without any worry or without any distraction from the clothes that I'm wearing.
The second point ‘feel to the touch’ should also be considered when we're practicing. During yoga practice we may sweat and we may not, but in any case we are moving constantly. So if the clothes that we're wearing are made from a material that is harsh to the touch, then it's most likely that we'll feel some irritation in some areas of our body. Finding a material that is comfortable, that is soft to the touch, is very important for me.

Currently I'm wearing Warrior Addict. Warrior Addict clothing is made using eco-friendly materials, which for me, is quite valuable. They are both elastic and tight, comfortable for the body and the material they are using is quite soft. In my opinion, very convenient for the yoga practice itself. Choose wisely when you're looking for yoga clothes.
