“Most people are thinking about what they don’t want, and they’re wondering why it shows up over and over again.” – John Assaraf on the Law of Attraction
The law of attraction is an interesting one, and an idea that I truly believe can have a hugely positive impact on the life of anyone who practices it. You may or may not have heard of this concept, but even if you haven’t come across the phrase ‘law of attraction’ you will undoubtedly be familiar with some of its elements.
The law of attraction has many nuances and intricacies, but its overarching philosophy is simple; whatever you put out into the world, you will receive back. It encourages those who practice it not to sit on their backsides, wallow and wonder why they aren’t reaching their goals, but to leap up, be positive and to go out and grab the life that you truly want for yourself.
In a nutshell, it’s all about optimism, positivity and conviction as opposed to pessimism, negativity and doubt. How you react to situations and the things that you choose to focus on have a direct correlation to what you will ultimately get out of your life. The days that I consciously practice the law of attraction, it makes a real difference. Here’s how you can begin to invite it into your own life…
1. Where Is Your Focus?
One of the cornerstones of the law of attraction is the idea that whatever you spend your time focusing on will become more present in your life as a result. So, try and be mindful and observant about the things that you dwell upon. If these things are negative, perhaps you need to make a conscious effort to move towards more inspirational and positive thoughts. If your thoughts are generally in line with your desires, then let me add this… the world is a noisy, complicated, distracting, and often ugly place. Do not let this get in the way of you achieving your goals. Let your laser focus cut through the noise of life like a knife.
2. Visualisation
The law of attraction also works best when you know what it is you want. What are your ultimate goals in life? They might be personal, professional, or even material; whatever they are, make a conscious effort to discover what they are. Once this has been achieved, find ways to visualise these dreams and goals. There is an old idea that you must imagine your winning moment in order to achieve it. This can be done by creating a mood board, writing about it in a journal, or even just building a strong image in your head.
3. Meditation
Use the goals that you have visualised in your meditation. This is a fantastic way to focus on and ponder over not only your desired outcomes, but the journey that must be taken in order to reach it. It is also a calm and unpressurised way to consider your path.
4. Get It Done
You don’t need to be aggressive to get what you want. Kindness and positivity are much better ways of making this happen, and no less effective. Do not be afraid to ask. Do not be afraid to be direct. Live your life like you have already reached your target, and it will come to you soon enough.
5. Keep the Faith
The law of attraction is not an instant antidote, a quick fix or a guarantee for success. However, do not lose the faith, trust that this attitude will yield pleasing results. Indeed, the law will make the journey less of a struggle and more of a pleasure. Life is not defined by endings; by the targets that we hit or the accolades we acquire… it is defined by the journey.
